“Tobias’ consent training workshop for the yoga studio offers the perfect framework to discuss these challenging topics in a respectful environment. He delivers the information and leads the group with grace and passion. I would recommend it to any and all folks interested in making space more inclusive for everyone.”
– Philippe Van Martin, Yoga Instructor
“…was very well-prepared, provided excellent resource materials and facilitated the sessions in an inviting and non-anxious manner. The workshops were very successful as they allowed participants to be vulnerable and open about their own fears and examine their own lives with a view to uncovering white privilege and rooting out systemic racism.”
– (The Rev.) Ralph Carl Wushke, Th. M Minister, Bathurst United Church
“As a workshop facilitator, Toby was very knowledgeable, and eloquently imparted the importance and relevance consent of in a way that was accessible to all. I am grateful for his support, encouragement, and expertise! I highly recommend his services to others who to seek to be more inclusive in their workplace.”
– Ruby Knafo, Owner and Director, Union Yoga + Wellness
“Most appreciated was how he created a safe space and helped participants to engage racism and white privilege issues without evoking or triggering reactiveness or defensiveness. The fact that participants were left wanting more, was a good sign that in that brief hour-and-a-half Tobias was able to convey the importance of each person wrestling with the questions more deeply in the future.”

Social Justice Workshops, Training, and Business Consulting
I offer a wide variety of training and consulting services relating to current social/political issues. I have offered these services in many settings including corporate, business, retreats, for individuals, and non-profit organizations. My workshops are accessible and hands-on, while facilitating tangible strategic plans for long-term positive social change. Although I work with each client to create a training best suited to their needs, some examples of topics include:
Learn a strong foundation of knowledge on different systems of oppression, such as racism, sexism, transphobia, and classism. Explore how these systems are normalized, and all interact to create social inequity. This workshop is tailored to address these issues as they emerge in the context most relevant to you and your community/business. We will work collaboratively to create a safer, inclusive, and more accessible environment.
Develop an in-depth understanding of the basic concepts and terminology relating to gender identity and transgender experience. In this workshop, we collaboratively explore the ways that gender identity interacts with the larger social world. Learn about common concerns faced by transgender and gender non-conforming people, as they relate to broader histories. Strategies for transgender inclusion and actively combatting transphobia are focused upon.
Develop an in-depth understanding of the basic concepts and terminology relating to Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer experience. Build strategies for becoming an active ally, examining social privilege, as well as understanding the specific issues LGBTQ communities face. We will collectively envision ways to challenge stereotyping, homophobia, transphobia, and heterornormativity in this session.
RACISM AND WHITE ALLYSHIP
This workshop will provide a robust introduction to topics of racism and white privilege, primarily in their more subtle and institutionalized forms. We explore key terminology, including the normalization of racism, intersectionality, and the invisibilization of white privilege. Together, we will work towards a better understanding of the “everydayness” of racism. This session provides key tools for deconstructing individual and institutional privilege, as well as strategies for effective allyship.
